December 3

We enjoyed looking at our Lights during a dusk tricycle ride this evening.( many thanks to brad for rigging up this magnificent arrangement;)

Emily sings her favorite song "Let your light shine" into them like a microphone- in an Australian accent.( It is a Hillsong song)

We finally got our advent wreath out and ready. Guess who picked the BLUE candles?

-we colored a play nativity set, sang silent night, and talked about our 1st candle- see our plan for advent below:)

We really want advent to be a true reflection of what Christmas is really about- in toddler terms of course. The common terms- hope, prophesy, etc do not really mean much to our children yet. we talk about those words, but wanted to o deeper with them. We spent some time thinking about how we could make advent applicable to our little ones and point them straight to the gospel...straight to our Savior being born a baby in a manger.

1st candle- Creation
Learn Genesis 1:1
Song: Silent Night

2nd candle- Sin
Learn Romans 3:23
Song: The First Noel

3rd candle- Gods GIFT to us
Learn Romans 6:23
Song: Angels we have heard on high

4th candle- Gods LOVE for us
Learn John 3:16
Song: away in a manger

Jesus candle in the center- Emmanuel - God is with us!
Learn Matthew 1:23
Song: Emmanuel by Chris Tomlin

A different twist to advent, but perfect for pointing all of our hearts towards the most amazing story ever written- our salvation.
Ps- the songs don't go with the candle...just wanted to sing traditional carols with them:)
